Time is of the Essence

           Work - Work~!

             In case anyone wondered how do I get the time to write all these useless thoughts on my blog? Well… I will dreadfully enlighten you then;

            Every morning, around 4am I would get ready to go to work. Yes, you got me right, work. You see, I work with the Australian post (parcel dept) as a part time job to fill my pocket money. So every morning I go to the post centre in Bentley and that so happens to be next to Curtin uni. What do I do there u might wonder? Well, I go there wee in the morning hours to sort out hundreds upon hundreds of parcels and boxes to be send on that particular day. They have these huge metal containers called ULD’s. So these uld’s are full of parcels, boxes and stuffs to be sorted out to their respective racks and if its too big for the racks, it is then put on their respective floor area. A single uld’s could accommodate from anywhere around 13 huge boxes to 200 small parcels, depending on the size of the parcel and the day of the week. As usual, Monday and Tuesday are the most busiest days of the week and thus the parcel numbers could be around 600 to 1200 parcels to be sent. Now that’s a lot of stuff.

            So, my job every morning is to sort out all of those parcels from the uld’s to their places. With 3 people the job could be done within an hour in a Monday morning, but that may vary as well depending on the parcel sizes. It could be as big as a small single door fridge and it could be as small as a pill bottle. Heck, I’ve sorted a pill bottle with an address stuck on it. So that’s it. That is what I do every morning before I go to class from the beginning of the semester. Usually I finish around 6(ish) in the morning, and this is where the interesting part come.

After I finished sorting the stuffs, I will start my cycle/walk to uni which is about 5 minutes away and that is the time when the air is still, crisp and fresh, there is no sound whatsoever, I could hear my own breathing, there is no wind, there is no light, its only me and myself and at that time I would hear my own thinking/emotions/ thoughts. After that brief walk/cycle to uni, my brain is full of these useless words and thoughts that I could not bear on my brain, so I would just open my laptop and start to type along. As the result of that, u all could read my blog and all the useless stuffs that are going on in my brain/life. So I do all my thinking prior me reaching uni and when I arrive, I just whipped out my laptop in the pc lab where they have wireless connection and start to type my blog. I’ll spend around half and hour to edit and post the whole damn thing every morning. Sometimes I even write on weekends but no promises there. So there you go, mystery solved… ha-ha…

I do take other part time job to get more pocket money. I usually do some office cleaning at night twice a week and on holidays I do the sorting and the delivery on those parcels… that’s another story and that’s an adventure by itself… do remind me to tell my experience on parcel deliveries coz I got tons of them… I got to meet very very interesting people who live in Perth’s suburbs. And I’ll tell you what? It could not be more weird then this… ha-ha…

You might be wondering why on earth I do not work in an architect’s firm or something, well that is because 1) the offices is quite far away and I don’t have any transport to go there but my bicycle. 2) The pay is usually crappy and the workload is immense. 3) I make more money doing cleaning then doing archi work and last but not least; archi work is not as flexible as other part time job. The jobs I have now are in odd hours which I have time to do my assignments and stuffs… (I’m quite slow, so I need all the time… ha-ha) so there you go, until next time…
