Curtin V.s. UTas

        Today I’m going to compare which Uni that I love the most. Is it going to be Curtin or UTas? Well you r not going to know unless you read this next bit. Let us start with the pros and cons of each Uni respectively;

        Curtin:

    Pros & Cons:

        Curtin is huge~! The main Bentley campus is waaaaaaay bigger then UTas Launceston Campus where I studied. So in a result, there is more girls there for u to gawk at… ha-ha… plenty of them… in fact, the place is infested with girls. Heck, I’ve seen more girls here then men. So it’s just a bigger pond to fish and more variety of fish to pick. So for all of you Casanovas and Romeos out there, this is a place for you. But big does not mean better. This place is as confusing as Quantum Physics. Especially if you are a new comer. There are a lot of shortcuts, holes, ways, roads, alleys, stairs, one ways, dead ends and ramps for you to discover throughout your time spent here. Every single thing is so god damn far apart~! Arghh… just to go to another lecture, we have to at least walk 10mins to get there… the layout of the campus is ok where its connected through a central spine.. But the spine is so damn long… thank god Archi building is in the centre.

        With this big space comes with big, far, desolated, and ugly car parks where it is always full. All the time… and I do mean all the time~! Some of the students even have to park on the road banks or one of those stupid islands in the car park, under the trees or even at the field. They are always full and yet the stupid Curtin admin dare to send me a letter saying that I need to pay the parking fees and have the disclaimer down there that they do not guarantee there is a parking for me. What the f**k? You are asking me to pay the parking fees, yet you can’t guarantee there will be any parking for me? And the worst thing is that I don’t even drive to Uni~! I cycle~! You greedy bastards~!! I’ll kill you all~!! Wahahaha… oops… Sorry about that… It is also easy to find food here, there are food anywhere but the downside is that it is freakin’ expensive~!!! Arghh…damn you Curtin buggers~!!! We are student dammnit~! Not drug lords… damn expensive… Haih~…

         There are a lot of buildings for you to look at but sooner or later they just bore you. With all these space there are bound to have facilities, and you name it. They have almost everything in campus, a book and computer shop, second hand bookshop, bar (essential in Aussie Uni); plenty of café’s and place to find food, a pharmacy, and optometrist, place to buy hp credits, phone cards, Xerox machines, and plenty of pc labs to go around. Facilities wise, this place is top notch. It is convenient to find what you want if it just weren’t too damn far apart. Did I mention there are a lot of chicks here?

          Let’s talk about study now… ha-ha… the lecturers are ok and as usual most of them are either practicing architects or designer, or whatever… relationships between students and lectures may vary. Some of them are as friendly as hell and some of them have an ego as big as the Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Kata Tjuta National Park W.A. and I also like the fact that in the Archi building there is a place called the Resource centre. If you want to find stuffs about architecture, this is the place for you… if have almost everything from books to magazines to previous student thesis and projects right at your fingertips. You just need to find them. It’s all in there… and if you can’t find them there are people there to help you out. You can Xerox, print, scan, borrow, cut, study, reference, flip through, eat snacks, chat, discuss, discourse, play, or whatever you want in there… I’m not sure about sex though… sure as hell I’m going to be there if someone start one… ha-ha… Just to look of course… what do you think I’m going to do? You sick bastards~! Get your mind out of the gutter~! Ha-ha…there are even the lecture notes and reference reading materials are already there for you to Xerox or reference. I do think the resource centre is a great thing and every Uni that have architecture should have one.

           The down side is that this place is always full too~! Ha-ha… It’s too freakin’ small to accommodate the students here in Curtin. I always cant find a pc to print and the Xerox machines are always full… ha-ha… but its still ok… although the pc here are as slow as hell… it is not as confusing as Macs…and don’t get me started with the classes. Dang… the building start off with the 3rd floor then the stairs skips few floors and it’s just a weird and twisted building and where is the ground floor? God knows… the second floor is just twisted and 1st floor is like a labyrinths of dark alley… sometimes the lectures is not even in the building. Sometimes it’s at a disclosed location where you have to search for it like a treasure hunt or something. It is so far away or you just can’t find it. Its both weird and sucks. Mostly the tutorial is in the building but lectures are somewhere else in Curtin… just got to find them… now let me tell you about the lift in archi building. Its freakin’ slow~!!! And it’s THE only lift~!! If we were not to take the life, we have to take the stairs straight to the 6th floor… haih… torture… I’m not complaining here… I mean stairs are good for your health and all but I’m freakin’ sleepy and tired, and I need to present to the lecturers what I’ve done and face the critics and all and all and all……. Tiring man… I don’t need e freakin’ stairs to add to my stress level which are elevating by the seconds…

         UTas:

    Pro’s and Con’s:

          Size does matters? When talking about sizes, Launceston campus is like my own backyard. You can walk from faculty to another faculty within minutes… its good though… its like your own little family… everything is within a walking distance, you know most of the people there down to the security guards. There are plenty of security camera on the campus it self and also those intercom thingy incase there’s any problems. And yeah, didn’t I tell you that there are heaps of crimes here in Curtin? Yeah… students here got mugged, robbed, snatched, broken into their houses, hit and run(ed), banged, threatened, burn, and deceived. Mostly happened to international students… There are even arson at the library’s café last semester~! But things are not as bad as it sounded. The security system works wonders now and there are more frequent patrol by the Curtin buggers… this place is huge~! How could they cover them all, give them a break, they are doing their best. And by the way, bicycles have been lost too~! Even motorcycle helmets~! Ha-ha… nuff said…

          We have a close relationship with most of the lecturers back in Tassie, where we could talk to them, hung around and discuss stuffs like normal friends. Over here no matter how close are you with them, there is always an air of authority, its like that itch you have at the back of your body where you just cant reach to scratch it… its there, you know its there, yet you just cant do anything about it… unless you go and rub you back against the wall or ask somebody to scratch for you, which in turn makes you either weird or just plain lazy. Foods are lovely in Tassie, I’ve always love the fish and chips there, and also the wedges with sour cream and sweet chili… ooooogggghh… droooolll.. I would just die to eat those heavenly food… the odd thing is they don’t have such thing in Curtin. They just sell those chips or wedges in these small little cups… OH MY FREAKIN’ GOD~! That is supposed to be outlawed. Whoever thought that that is an enough portion for chips or wedges should be shot, kicked, bashed and thrown over cliff at the great ocean road in Melbourne, just to be pick up by a crane and be shot again to make sure he suffered. And also burnt… ooohh yeahhh… the food are also dirt cheap in the campus… well, at least its more cheaper then here… although you cant fight the variety of Curtin’s food hall, I’m still sticking to quality over quantity.. ha-ha…

          Basically UTas is just a compressed, improved, better version of Curtin. With fantabulous scenery and out of this world weather, it is just to die for. With less crime, and great fresh air. The spring season is wet, but the summer is just fine~! Lovely… I just don’t get it about the trees here in W.A… They just don’t follow the freakin season~! It’s already almost end of winter but some of the trees are still green~! What the heck man? And during winter, some of the weeks could go as hot as the summer~! Talk about a messed up weather… its freaking hot one day, then suddenly its freakin cold~! Damn… there are also heaps upon heaps of flies that just go into every single hole that you have. I would think that it would go into your ass if you didn’t cover them. Damn flies~! And these are not your typical flies… they come in variety… there are those annoying fast ones, where they just fly for one spot to another just to annoy you, and there are those big fuzzy hairy ones where they fly so slow, I could slap them off air, make them bounce to the wall and slap them again. I would think that this is the dumb relatives of flies… and don’t forget those flies that are small and gets into your nose, ear and every hole that you have. They are everywhere~!!! It’s freakin annoying~!!!!

          I love Tassie coz the feeling of being overseas is there. When its autumn, the leaves are lovely red color and it’s just amazing looking at those leaves falls and gathers on the ground making it looked like it is on fire, there are red and yellow everywhere it is so colorful and somewhat magical. Walking back from Uni is a treat also~! Just walking back could be an adventure where you walk; you could hear the leaves creak and cracks underneath your foot, and you could kick some leaves up or just step on them… or if you are lucky the leaves are falling like rain from above and the wind could pick up some to blow the leaves here and there. And there is no green in sight~! Everything is just red, yellow, and brown or any of those hues… it’s lovely for photo sessions…

          Winter is my favorite coz it’s really winter~! With frosts almost on every single thing including the car’s roof and windshield, leaves, ground, shoes and all the stuffs… the air is crisp and things goes frozen in the morning, just to be gone when the sun comes up and melts every thing the sunlight touches. It’s such an ephemeral experience but it was worth it. It is so tranquil and peaceful on a winter morning. Such a nice feeling when I woke up in the morning and went out for a fresh morning, freezing air with a cup of coffee to keep my hands warm, just to see my breath and the vapor from the coffee cup floating in the air… no winds.. no sound… just pure bliss. Of course some people might disagree with me and say that winter morning is the perfect time to be snug inside the bed where its warm and comfy and you just don’t want to go out…well… you can do that too… but I’m a morning person… so that’s there.. I don’t give a damn what you say~!! This is my blog~! I am the law~!! Huahahahaa… winter ski trip is a treat as well… fun in the snow~!

          Like I mentioned before, summer is the nicest weather to be in, where the air is cool and the sun is shining, it’s a great season to be at the beach, picnic, jungle trekking, walking around, or just frolic in the sun. it’s a great time for people watching too~! Hot bodies abound! They are just everywhere~! Hot girls and guys too… ha-ha with breathtaking places to go and visit, the nature is at its best and for the outdoors enthusiast; great place to be mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, rock climbing, mountaineering, off road driving and all those sort of stuffs you could see from the discovery channel… ha-ha… spring is the time for colors. There are colors that I’ve never seen before here… all the hues in the rainbow… and make sure you go to the tulip farms, lavender farms and also the fruit, berries and grapevines around the Tamar River. You won’t be disappointed… early spring is a bummer coz it’s always rain, but its good… ha-ha…

          The downside of all these weathers are that sometimes its extremely windy… if you are living near the coastal areas, the winds could pick you up, toss you around, picks u up again and whips you back to your hometown in a single gust… ha-ha.. it’s not that extreme but you get what I mean. The cold could get till your bones and unless you are a fat bastard like me; who have layers upon layers of fat to protect my frail soul from cold, I would suggest you to wear at least 3 layers during winter in Tassie and a wind breaker… and another waterproof jacket, just in case…but for me, coz I’m a fat bastard who again.. have great layers upon layers of fat; just wear something decent inside and my trusty waterproof leather jacket on the outside. It’s both a wind breaker, waterproof and also stylish… hahaha… just keep in mind that a jacket is your best friend in Tassie.

           Basically what I’m trying to say is that both places have its pro’s and cons… and I love both of the places at its best… but if given a choice, I would still prefer Tassie, over Perth at any given time. Perth has a big city and shopping place and whatever, so what? I don’t give a damn… you want to be here? It’s your freakin’ choice… call me conservative, call me weird, but I still love Tassie more. I’ve planned to go there for my friend’s graduation on 2008, but we see how its goes.. if things goes well, I might be on the next flight there~! Tassie here I come~!! Hahaha… and I miss chicken feed also~! “bargain with a smile~!” their add is too f**king hilarious… hahhaa…and if there is anything I’ve missed about Tassie or anything about Perth, do write in the comment area.. I’d appreciate it. Until next time I whine here… hahhaa
